The candidate for President that will be fielded by the government will have control of three factors – financial, media and administrative. This will be a super-rich person who will own a media holding and will benefit from the administrative factor, executive director of the Association for Participatory Democracy Igor Botan stated during a program on Radio Free Europe. The political analyst considers the contenders for the presidency will not display their wealth, but will use the administrative factor, IPN reports.

Igor Botan stated that in the created situation the rich candidates will do themselves a disservice if they exhibit their wealth in the election campaign. After the stealing of the billion and after a series of loud crimes, some of the very rich candidates will rather do themselves harm if they show how rich they are.

According to the analyst, the bill to amend the Election Code’s provisions concerning the election of the President is in accordance with the general logic of the Code and restores the parameters that existed before the amendments made in 2000, when the Constitution was modified. “In 2010, the Election Code was amended. It was reached the conclusion that the period of election campaign should be reduced from three months to two months for all the elections – parliamentary and local – and this should thus apply to the presidential elections too,” said Igor Botan.

He also said that the discernment yields up to the needs in a poor country. “I vote for rice” or “I vote for parsley seeds” – these are things that we saw and convinced ourselves that they work in our country, regretfully,” stated the political analyst.

Igor Botan noted that the young generation is rapidly corrupted, as the generation of seniors is. In Moldova, there are many turncoats among MPs and councilors, who are very young people.
