A number of 17 communities were partially disconnected from the electrical power supply in the morning of December 18. Following the recent snowfalls, power failures were experienced by villages of Criuleni, Nisporeni, Ungheni, Cimislia, Leova, Cahul, and Basarabeasca districts and of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, IPN reports.

According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, specialized teams work to restore the supply of power. Rescuers and firefighters were mobilized to provide qualified aid to SMURD, unblock persons who got stuck in traffic in snowdrifts and extinguish fires.

A number of 224 units of transport and 345 persons were involved in snow removal and antiskid material spreading works. Four large trucks that were unable to go up slopes were towed away on the Chisinau-Leuseni and Chisinau-Orhei roads.
