The lack of trust between the ruling parties and the Opposition party are the major causes of the political crisis in Moldova, politologist Corneliu Ciurea said during the presentation of the first edition of the Crisis Prevention Report for July-October, which is produced by IDIS Viitorul, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Ciurea, the stake is so high that the parties are on irreconcilable positions. “The Report highlights the problems existing inside the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) because the fate of the ADR during 1998 – 2001 is well known. The frictions between the members of the Alliance and the structural drawbacks of every party led to permanent splits and disagreements and, ultimately, to the dismemberment of that Alliance,” he said. The politologist also spoke about the constitutional shortcomings concerning the election of the head of state. “Besides, the power is transferred amid concurrent political, economic, social and regional crises as the elections in Romania and Ukraine cause a turbulent neighborhood that can affect the political developments in Moldova,” Ciurea said. Speaking about possible scenarios, he said the holding of early elections or the split of the PCRM and attraction of Communist votes to choose the President of Moldova are the most realistic ones. According to him, both of the scenarios include risks of political crisis. Asked if the 12-point offer made by the leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu could influence the Communists' decision as regards the voting of the head of state, Ciurea said we must be optimistic, but the exaggerated enmity push the AEI and the PCRM towards irrational dialogues.
