Posting of ads for alcoholic beverages will be penalized

The producers of alcoholic drinks and the publicity agencies face fines of up to 2,000 lei if they do not withdraw the ads for alcohol put on billboards. Such a prescription was issued by the National Agency for Competition Protection. Advertisements for alcoholic beverages are allowed only in publications and radio and television programs that are intended for adults, between 10pm and 7am, the Agency's head Viorica Carare said in a news conference, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The Agency will start inspections in 30 days of the publication of the prescription in the Official Gazette. The harshest punishment for not obeying the Law on Advertising will be suspension for up to three years. The posting of ads will be also allowed where alcoholic beverages are produced and sold, like on facades of factories and shops.
