The possibility of exploring and working some petroleum and natural gas deposits in the territory of the Republic of Moldova was one of the topics discussed between the Moldovan president Vladimir Voronin and the president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliev. Aliev and Voronin talked about the possibility of inviting experts from Azerbaijan as consultants at the elaboration stage of the project, says a press release of the Presidency, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Previously the prime-minister Vasile Tarlev declared that Moldova is seeking for alternative energetic resources, but until “finding them, we will be forced to comply with the conditions imposed by “Gazprom”. At the same time, Tarlev mentioned that the efforts of the Government are directed towards developing own crude oil enterprises and preliminary data do not exclude that on the territory of Moldova natural gas could also be found. At the mentioned meeting, Ilham Aliev was interested in establishing a tighter cooperation with the Republic of Moldova in IT. Vladimir Voronin informed his counterpart about the first World Congres Of Gagauzs, organized in Comrat. Aliev welcomed this action and mentioned that UTA Gagauz-Yeri is a positive example of solving a problem of ethno-cultural autonomy. According to the press release, Vladimir Voronin offered an interview to the “Eho Moscvy” radio station within which he referred to the cooperation of Moldova within the CIS, Moldovan-Russian bilateral relationships, and perspectives of the Transnistrian conflict settlement.
