The Party of Socialists (PSRM) will make public the names of its candidates for mayoralty in Chisinau and Balti municipality for the new local elections of May 20 after the enlarged meeting of the party’s staff that will be held on March 18, IPN reports.

“In Chisinau and Balti, the Party of Socialists has not only powerful candidates, but also powerful teams. The PSRM is ready to assume responsibility for the future of these cities and to solve the problems faced by the citizens,” said the party’s leader Zinaida Grecheanyi, who was quoted in a press release of the PSRM.

The Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) said that now that the Central Election Commission decided that the mayoral elections in Chisinau municipality will take place on May 20, the party’s National Political Council will take a decision as to the participation in elections. The meeting of the National Political Council will be scheduled in the March 12 meeting of the National Standing Bureau.

A week ago, the Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” fielded the party’s leader Andrei Nastase as a candidate for mayoralty in Chisinau. One day earlier, the leader of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc said the PDM will not have an own candidate for the post of mayor general of Chisinau municipality, but is ready to support a common candidate of the pro-European parties and the parties of the right.
