Pork from right side of the Nistru banned in Transnistrian region

The Transnistrian administration banned the import of pork from the right side of the Nistru River into Transnistria following the detection of swine fever in two villages of Donduseni district. A similar restriction was announced by Russia one day earlier, IPN reports.

According to the local press, the ban applies also to private individuals, who cannot import pork at least for personal consumption.

Specialists were quoted by the Transnistrian press as saying that no cases of swine fever were recorded in the Transnistrian region. This is an infectious disease that is harmless to humans, but is lethal in 100% of cases to infected animals.
