The monthly average disposable incomes of a person in the second quarter of this year rose by 11% in nominal prices compared with the corresponding period last year. In real terms, the rise was 2.6%. The incomes from farming increased by 45% following the rise in the prices of agricultural products, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the independent analytical center Expert Grup. In a news conference, the center's executive director Valeriu Prohnitski said the discrepancy between the population's disposable incomes in urban and rural areas has decreased. The incomes coming from social benefits, especially allowances for children, have increased. The salary incomes fell by 3% in real terms. “This is due to the fact that the number of workplaces dropped in the first half of the year, while the real average monthly salary in January-May decreased,” Valeriu Prohnitski said. In June, the situation improved and the monthly average pay stated to grow. Thus, the average salary in August rose by 2.4% from last August. The salaries in the real sector of the economy have increased during several months, mainly in transport, communications and the financial sector. Remittances from abroad also grew. In August, they increased by 4%. “At the start of the year, most of the remittances were in euros, but in summer they were mainly in dollars and rubles. To a certain extent, this is because of the economic recovery in Russia, where there are many Moldovan migrant workers,” ” Valeriu Prohnitski said.
