It is three months until the population census of April. About 9,000 census takers and other persons responsible for taking the census have been identified until now by contest. The mapping was finished, director general of the National Bureau of Statistics Lucia Spoiala stated for IPN.
By April, there will be finalized the IT strategy for processing the census data and drafted the census questionnaire and forms.
The census will last for 14 days. It will cover the persons with ordinary residence in Moldova, temporarily absent persons, people working and studying abroad, personnel of embassies and consular offices of Moldova, persons living in Moldova on a temporary basis.
Lucia Spoiala said that if one or several members of the household are absent, the census taker will fill out the forms based on the information provided by the other adult members, if they can answer the questionnaire questions. If the person is away and nobody can confirm this, the whereabouts of this person will be established in cooperation with the local public administration, by analyzing the data of the Customs Service.
A novelty is the fact that there will be also collected information about the homes, regardless of their form of ownership.
The preliminary census data will be published in October – November, while the general data in 2015.
About 90 million lei is needed to take the census. 46% of the sum was allocated by the Government of Moldova, while the other part will be covered with foreign resources.
