This year’s population and housing census in Moldova will start on April 8 and will run until July. This is provided in a decision drafted by the National Bureau of Statistics, IPN reports.
Thus, according to the draft decision, the census will be taken between April 8 and July 7. Census data will be collected either directly by surveying (interviewing) the persons concerned, or indirectly – from administrative or private data sources.
The information collected by the census will be used to determine the resident population of the Republic of Moldova, to calculate census indicators, with territorial disaggregation, as well as to establish the survey base for statistical surveys in households, etc.
“The purpose of the census is to provide information of public interest about the resident population and housing for policy development, monitoring and evaluation, for substantiation of human development decisions, for scientific research and development of the business community,” said the National Bureau of Statistics.
The draft Government Decision on the reference date of the population and housing census in 2024 is to be examined and approved by the Cabinet.
