Poplar hairs cause allergic reactions on last spring month

The hairs of cottonwood trees on the last month of spring cause allergic reactions. In order to overcome this seasonal allergy, one should avoid walks between 9am and 10am in places where there are poplars in bloom and also see an allergist, Tatiana Gorelco, specialist of the Mother and Child Institute, has told IPN.

“A person can realize that they are allergic to poplar hairs if they encounter respiration-related problems, eye itching, sneezing and states of weakness in the same period of the year during several years,” said the doctor. The seasonal allergy of May-June can be also caused by pollen of acacia and lime tree and by some herbs. If the person suffers from the enumerated symptoms, they should see an allergist so find out if they suffer from an allergy or an infection

Besides taking anti-allergy drugs, one should air the house in the evening and take a shower after walks. Anyone can be allergic to pollen, especially the persons who are hereditarily predisposed to allergic diseases, who often become ill and who have skin problems.

Contacted by IPN, the head of the municipal Green Areas Managing Company Eliferii Haruta said there are about 10,000 cottonwood trees in Chisinau.
