Ponta: Reappointing Leanca would guarantee good relations between Moldova and Romania

Romanian Prime Minister Victor Leanca signed a Declaration regarding the next Prime Minister of Moldova in which he says that reappointing Iurie Leanca at the helm of the government would guarantee the continuation of good relations between Romania and Moldova. The Declaration was sent to IPN by Corneliu Calota, spokesman of the Government of Romania.

“The victory of the pro-European forces in the parliamentary elections in Moldova is a positive signal and an opportunity for the success of the integration project. Chisinau can continue to rely on Romania! Supporting Moldova has been and remains one the priorities of our foreign policy. We think that it's time to go beyond rhetorics and build a partnership based on concrete projects and support for the fulfillment of Chisinau's European destiny”, reads the statement.

“For a long time, on both sides, well-meaning declarations have taken the center stage, but today we can enjoy results that strengthen the special bond between the two countries and the two societies. I'm happy that important projects have been implemented in such a short period of time. Finalizing the works on the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipe, extending the SMURD system in Moldova, increasing the number of scholarships for school and university students, offering school minibuses and Dacia Duster cars for local authorities in Moldova, supporting the renovation of schools and kindergartens and so on are just some of the projects we have accomplished over the last years”, says Ponta in the declaration.

“Together with Prime Minister Iurie Leanca we have managed to start these projects and I think that his return to the helm of the Cabinet in Chisinau is an opportunity that shouldn't be missed. Our success wouldn't have been possible if the Government of Moldova hadn't been lead by an honest partner, an open person, a politician committed to Moldova's European future like Iurie Leanca. A large part of the success of these projects is due to his openness and experience. Rewarding him with a new term in office after a first one that stands out thanks to both internal performances and results obtained in the process of European integration would make me happy and would act as a guarantee for the continuation of good relations between our countries”, reads the Romanian PM's Declaration.
