Poll turnout reached 27% by 12.45
27% of the over 2.5 million Moldovan voters marked their ballots by midday. Most of these are from northern Moldova.
About 40% of the Moldovans voted already in Basarabeasca district. The voters there are the most active. Among other districts with a high voter turnout are: Taraclia, Briceni, Rascani, Dubasari, Foresti, Glodeni, Stefan Voda, Ocnita, Soldanesti, Donduseni, with an average turnout of 35%, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Usually, the voters in Chisinau and in the municipality of Balti are not very active. 20.95% or over 128,000 of the 600,000 residents with the right to vote voted in Chisinau. In Balti, the voter turnout was over 19%.
Between 18% and 27% of the voters cast their votes in Ialoveni, Falesti, Cantemir and Calarasi districts.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) will make new information about turnout public at about 15.45.
The voter turnout in the 2005 elections was 7.32% by 11.45.
