The Conservator Party of Moldova (CP) showcased a photo exhibition at Leogrand Hotel on Friday, February 16. The exhibition entitled “Children of the Country – Forgotten in the Street” was a good opportunity for businessmen and NGOS to meet in order to discuss the problems of the street children, Info-Prim Neo reports. CP president Natalia Nirca told Info-Prim Neo that the party she leads is concerned about the dramatic life of these children who are not orphans but come from families spoilt by alcohol or drugs or have parents who are imprisoned, or worse, left abroad. According to Nirca, street children are not regarded as the responsibility of the entire society and because of this fact the monstrosity of the situation is not shocking. Veronica Stefaniuc, the Director of the Day Centre for Children at Risk in Varnita village, Anenii-Noi told Info-Prim Neo that besides the present problems, including serious financial ones, there should be several unquestionable priorities, the first of which is the situation of the children at risk. “Despite the society’s poverty, it should find resources to protect these children, because this is our dignity’s pillar”, Veronica Stefaniuc said. According to her words, CP and Leogrand Hotel started a tremendous action aimed at searching good persons who might help these children. “Even if one has a kind heart, it is difficult to offer any support without financial means”, the director said. About 56 children are given assistance at the Day Centre daily due to the support of Mayor Sergiu Serbov and several companies. The cited source says that after meeting with the businessmen, the kind-hearted persons will contribute to ensuring the children at risk with means necessary for their spiritual, physical, mental and emotional development. 30 photos are exhibited at Leogrand Hotel. They picture the everyday desperate situation of street children. The exhibition will be open for 30 days.
