For the firm integration of the Republic of Moldova into the European Union, political stability and the irreversibility of the reform process are important, secretary of state at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania Iulian Fota stated in Moldova-Romanian interministerial political consultations in Chisinau, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affair and European Integration, the heads of the Moldovan and Romanian delegations approved of the strategic character of the bilateral dialogue, the dynamic cooperation within regional organizations and at multilateral level. The diplomats exchanged opinions on the impact of Russia’s unjust war against Ukraine on Romania and Moldova at socioeconomic and energy levels.
Secretary of state Vyacheslav Dobîndă thanked Romania for the assistance provided to the Republic of Moldova in obtaining the EU candidate status and for the readiness to offer expertise for advancing in the European integration process.
The officials also discussed the Transnistrian conflict settlement, with Iulian Fota reaffirming Romania’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.
In the political consultations, the delegations also underlined the important role played by the Romanian investments and enterprises with Romanian capital operating in Moldova and the necessity of strengthening the bilateral legal framework and of implementing initiatives in such areas as education, culture, health, environment, and infrastructure.
The two secretaries of state agreed to hold the next round of political consultations in Bucharest in 2023.
