Political organisation accuses government of lack of policies to avoid rise in electricity prices
“The price of electric power was raised unexpectedly in the absence of anticipatory governmental polices immediately after suspending the liberalisation of the energy market, which would have opened new possibilities for consumers. These circumstances intensify the financial blows to the population and to the economic agents,” accuses the “Moldova Noastra” Alliance Party (AMN).
According to a statement made by the party, the sudden rise in the price of electricity with the state taking no compensatory actions, stresses communists’ incapacity to govern in Moldova.
The statement also says that AMN proposed taking strategic, wide-spreading measures to stabilise the situation in the energy market of Moldova, ignored by the state authorities. “The present administration of Moldova had an irresponsible attitude towards these major problems, was incapable of reforming the energy sector and of stimulating its development at modern level,” the AMN statement reads.
The electric power tariff was increased to 0.96 lei per kWh for the consumers supplied by the power distribution networks of Union Fenosa Company and to 1.01 lei for those supplied by the distribution networks from the northern part of the country.
