Political leadership school for women who will run in this year's local elections

Thirty women from settlements of Soroca district, who intend to run in the local elections of 2011, will take part in the Development of Opportunities for Women's Participation at Rural Level Project, within which they will develop their leadership abilities and receive training in establishing relations with the mass media, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Youth Resource Center “Dacia”. The project aims to stimulate the women's participation in local decision-making and to sensitize the main decision makers and the voters of Soroca district to the need of supporting female candidates in the local elections of 2011. Within the first stage, there will be organized meetings with representatives of political parties, which will center on the objectives of the project and methods of achieving the set objectives. The second stage will include a public meeting themed “Women in Politics is not a Taboo”, where the participants will exchange information and try to find creative solutions. The group of women will be selected at the third stage. The women will be able to take part in three talk shows centering on this year's local elections on the local TV channel Sor-TV. The project is launched by the Youth Resource Center “Dacia” and is financed by Soros Foundation Moldova and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency. The project covers 24 settlements, counting Baxani, Rudi, Vasoca, Dubna, Nimereuca, Hristici, Zastanca, Regina Maria, Cainarii Vechi, Cremenciug, Trifauti, Cerlina, Slobozia-Varancau, Slobozia-Cremene, Alexandrul cel Bun, Parlita, Radi Ceresnovat, Solonet, Egoreni, Slobozia Noua, Iarova, Balinti, Holosnita, and Oclanda.
