Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Iurie Leancă said the joint meeting of the Governments of Moldova and Romania held in Bucharest on November 223 was very productive. According to him, there were discussed concrete projects designed to improve the living conditions of the Moldovans, IPN reports.
“Since January 1, 2020, I’m sure we will be able to purchase gas from Romania too. An interconnection issue was discussed today and this is very positive – how to connect the water treatment station in Iași to the water supply systems of at least three districts in the Republic of Moldova, Ungheni, Nisporeni, and Fălești, so that our citizens benefit from water of a high quality at accessible tariffs,” Iurie Leancă stated in the talk show “Fourth power” on N4 channel.
There was also discussed the reconstruction of the bridge over the Prut in Ungheni, which will be connected to the Union highway, including the necessary time limits and financial resources, and the bridge in Leova that is situated between Cahul and Leușeni.
According to Iurie Leancă, the officials in Bucharest discussed how to institute joint control on the border so as to fluidize traffic, the objective being to create one customs post. Furthermore, joint border patrolling will be ensured.
The extension of the SMURD project all over Moldova was another issue discussed in Bucharest and there will no longer be emergencies when an immediate reaction is not possible.
“I’m very glad that the Government of Romania announced it will provide one more tranche for repairing kindergartens in the Republic of Moldova. Another 200 kindergartens will be repaired besides the 900 kindergartens that were already renovated or where the repair works are being completed,” stated the leader of the European People’s Party of Moldova.
Iurie Leancă noted they also discussed the renovation of the Academy of Music, Theater and Plastic Arts, where there is the hall where the Union was voted 100 years ago. “These are large projects, but there are also small projects that have an impact on communes and particular areas,” he noted.
The Republic of Moldova and Romania, in the common meetings of the Governments on November 22, signed a series of bilateral agreements in such areas as tourism, education and healthcare. There was also signed a common statement on the abolition of roaming charges between the Government of Romania and the Government of the Republic of Moldova.
