The president of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu announced he will not apply for the post of leader of the party in the next congress of the PL. He noted he also does not want to run in the upcoming parliamentary elections, either on the party list or in a single-member constituency. The politician made the announcements in the talk show “Politics of Natalia Morari” on TV8 channel, IPN reports.
The Liberal leader said the party hasn’t yet discussed the candidates for the party’s presidency and he does not know if the former mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoacă will compete. “Dorin will decide and the congress will decide. I will not apply,” stated Mihai Ghimpu.
He also said that the PL’s congress that meets on December 1 will decide as to his participation in the parliamentary elections. He noted he does not know if Dorin Chirtoacă will run in the upcoming elections. “I don’t know. There are nuances as a criminal case was started against him. I suspect he will not be allowed to run,” stated the politician.
