Transnistrian settlement process discussed in Minsk

Prime Minister Pavel Filip thanked Germany for the long-lasting political support provided in the Transnistrian settlement process, especially during the OSCE German Chairmanship, and for supporting the resolution on the withdrawal of the Russian military forces from the territory of the Republic of Moldova at the UN General Assembly.

The evolution of the Transnistrian settlement process and the current situation concerning the European integration of Moldova was discussed by Pavel Filip and Dirk Wiese, Coordinator for Intersocietal Cooperation with Russia, Central Asia and the Eastern Partnership Countries of Germany, in a meeting in Minsk on November 1, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, Pavel Filip said Moldova’s European course remains a priority and the Government is firmly committed to implementing the Association Agreement with the European Union. Dirk Wiese appreciated Moldova’s efforts in this regard and reaffirmed Germany’s readiness to support the implementation of Moldova’s European integration agenda.

The sides exchanged opinions on the Moldovan-German cooperation in security and education, pleading for maintaining an open dialogue.

At the invitation of Pavel Filip, Dirk Wiese will visit Moldova at the start of next year.

The meeting in Minsk was held on the sidelines of the meeting of the Core Group of the Munich Security Conference.
