The Moldovans could travel to Turkey only with the identity card, while freight carriers will no longer need authorizations for transiting Turkey. Five bilateral agreements between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Turkey were signed on October 17 in the presence of Prime Minister Pavel Filip and the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, IPN reports.

Now the citizens of the two states could travel from one country to another based on the identity card. They could stay on the territory of the states for the same period as in the case of passports. Freight carriers could transit the two countries without a transport authorization and this will facilitate the delivery of goods on the territory of the two states.

Under another signed treaty, the service members of the two states will be trained at the workplace, will pay working visits and will take part in joint exercises and other social and cultural events.

The agreement of cooperation in the fields of youth and sport promotes cooperation between youth and sports organizations through different common projects, the exchange of experience in ensuring safety in sport for organizing common sports events and the women’s participation in sports.

There was also signed a memorandum of understanding on the method of administering the Moldova-Turkish lyceum “S. Demirel” based in Congaz town. The memorandum stipulates the admission conditions, languages of learning, method of financing and tax exemptions for materials supplied by the Turkish side for outfitting the lyceum.

According to Pavel Filip, the bilateral dialogue has been on the ascent owing mainly to the previous discussions between the sides. For his part, Recep Tayyip Erdogan approved of the signing of the five protocols, expressing his conviction that they will help strengthen the relations between Turkey and Moldova.

The Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Turkey so far signed 65 bilateral agreements.
