MPs Igor Dodon, Zinaida Greceanyi and Veronica Abramchuc on November 4 left the Communist Party of Moldova (PCRM), Info-Prim Neo reports. “”Our decision has only one goal, which is yet complex – to avoid the early elections, elect the head of state, re-format the government and ensure political and social stability. During two years and a half, as a result of the unhealthy ambitions and stubbornness of the main political actors, Moldova witnessed an economic decline, while the people lost confidence. We withdrew from the PCRM in order to cut the “Gordian knot” of hatred and distrust,” Igor Dodon said in a press briefing this morning. He stated that by withdrawing from the party, they offer a solution. “Our solution is to give three votes to an apolitical candidate for the presidency. The candidate must form part of no alliance or political organization, have the necessary abilities and be respected in society and outside Moldova,” said Igor Dodon. The former Communist MP stressed they are not concerned about the fate of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI). “Moreover, I think the AEI should disappear as a bad dream because it caused a state of chaos in politics and society. The noxious and unclear policy pursued by the ruling alliance made us take risks and take this step,” said Igor Dodon. He also said that the three MPs will not speak about the situation inside the PCRM. “We will not refer to the intrigues and obstructions. These are minor aspects and they did not make us take this decision. I will not speak about the criticism and rejection of the ideas aimed at modernizing the party. For me, as a politician, it is the efficiency of my actions that counts. Instead of being an inactive member of the PCRM and politically ineffective, I would be better outside the party, but with definite solutions to the country’s problems,” said the lawmaker. Igor Dodon stressed the solution proposed by the three MPs is the last for overcoming the political crisis and they expect that the Communist parliamentary group and the other groups will ally and vote for a compromise, apolitical candidate. Earlier, unaffiliated MP Mihai Godea said the party he heads identified three Communist MPs who are ready to vote in the head of state, but they want to negotiate with the leaders of the AEI. The leaders of the ruling alliance did not answer the invitation, while the names of the three MPs were not made public.
