Polish Senate Marshal: Early elections will slow down European integration process

The early elections will influence the signing of the Association Agreement and the Free Trade Agreement that Moldova wants to sign at the Eastern Partnership Summit this autumn, said the Marshal of the Polish Senate Bogdan Borusewicz, who came to Chisinau to take part in the opening of the meeting of the Poland -Moldova Parliamentary Assembly, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Marshal said that it will be bad if the political crisis in Moldova lasts long and leads to early elections. “This will have a negative influence and you will not manage to sign the two agreements, which we want you to sign,” he stated. Bogdan Borusewicz also said that this is his second visit to Moldova after 1990. Since then, the country has changed a lot, to the best. According to the Marshal, Moldova is a democratic and independent country. “The European Union regards Moldova as an example of democracy. You have the status of the leading country among the Easter Partnership member states,” he added. Moldovan Speaker Marian Lupu said that the visit of the Polish officials opens new opportunities for developing the bilateral cooperation. “We highly appreciate the support provided by Poland in the process of negotiating the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, as a component part of the first agreement, and for the liberalization of the visa regime. We agreed that support will continue to be provided to finish the negotiations and to initial and sign the agreement,” he stated. Bogdan Borusewicz and a Polish parliamentary delegation are in Moldova on a two-day official visit.
