Polish President on visit to Moldova for first time
The President of the Polish Republic Bronisław Komorowski is visiting the Republic of Moldova for the first time, Info-Prim Neo reports.
President Nicolae Timofti will have a tête-à-tête meeting with Bronisław Komorowski at the State Residence located on Nicolae Iorga St in the morning of December 3. The two heads of state will take part in the signing of the executive program between the Government of Moldova and the Government of Poland in culture, education and science for 2012-2014 and of the proceedings of the third meeting of the joint Moldovan-Polish commission for economic cooperation.
In the afternoon, Nicolae Timofti and Bronisław Komorowski will participate in the opening of the Forum of Businessmen and will then lay flowers at the commemorative plaque of former Polish President Lech Kaczynski.
At the end of his visit to Chisinau, Bronisław Komorowski will receive the title of Doctor Honoris Causa.
Until now, the only Polish President who paid an official visit to Moldova was Aleksander Kwasniewski, on December 9-10, 1997 and then on October 22-23, 2003. Trade between Moldova and Poland, which is an EU member state, has increased considerably over the last few years.
