Poland’s President Bronisław Komorowski, who is in Moldova on an official visit, had a meeting with Speaker Marian Lupu, First Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc, Deputy Speaker Liliana Palihovich and representatives of parliamentary groups. In the meeting, the Head of Parliament highlighted the strategic character of the Moldovan-Polish relations, expressing his confidence that the visit to Chisinau will foster these relations, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the legislative body, Marian Lupu highly appreciated the disinterested support provided by Poland to Moldova in its efforts to modernize the country and to meet the European standards, Poland being in favor of the EU’s enlargement to the East and one of Eastern Partnership. In another development, Marian Lupu stressed the importance for Moldova of the economic experience of Poland, which is the only EU member state that did not fall into recession and whose GDP grew by 3.5% since the beginning of the economic crisis in 2008. Bronisław Komorowski said that the parliamentary dimension is decisive in the bilateral Moldovan-Polish relations. According to him, this cooperation should ensure the legal basis and stimulate the economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries. The Polish President reiterated that Poland will provide constant support for the European aspirations of Moldova and expressed the Polish authorities’ readiness to continue to share their European integration experience with Moldova.
