Polish Film Festival in Moldova will open on November 16
The second edition of the Polish Film Festival in Moldova will take place in Chisinau, Congaz and Balti between November 16 and December 6.
According to Iolanta Krasnodebska, specialist in cultural matters at the Polish Embassy in Moldova, this year’s edition of the festival will offer the public the possibility of learning about the most successful manifestations of the modern Polish culture through films. These are representative works produced after 1999, which was a turning point for the Polish cinematography.
Iolanta Krasnodebska told Info-Prim Neo that the festival will begin on November 16 at Odeon cinema in Chisinau, where seven Polish films will be shown until November 22. Two films will be presented in Congaz town in Comrat district on December 1 and four films will be screened at Patria cinema in Balti between December 3 and 6.
The entrance to all the films is free of charge, the cited source said.
Among the movies that will be shown to the Moldovan public are the classic film “Through Desert and Wildness” directed by Gavin Hood, which is based on a novel by writer Henryk Sienkiewicz and “Chopin. Thirst for Love” directed by Jerzy Antczak, which is about the composer’s love affair with writer George Sand. The film “Hello, Teresa!” describes the problems faced by the young generation, the dissonance between the ideals and the everyday life full of sadness. The psychological drama “Egoists” directed by Mariusz Trelinski is about the major problems that confront today the young people that strive for success and easy money. There will be also shown the drama “The Tulips” directed by Jacek Boruch, Marek Koterski’s film “We Are all Jesus Christ” and the comedy by Jacek Bromski “Nikoś Dyzma’s Career”.
The Polish Film Festival in Moldova is organized by the Polish Embassy in Chisinau and the Bucharest-based Polish Institute.
