Policies aimed at improving justice produce results, minister

90% of the participants in trials said they were treated with respect by employees of courts of law, while over half of them said they to wait for 10 to 20 minutes for being served, which is an acceptable term for them. These are the results of a study of the satisfaction level of visitors of courts.

The study was commissioned by the Ministry of Justice. The policies aimed at reforming the justice sector produce results, though there are areas on which greater emphasis should be laid, Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim said in the event held to present the study, IPN reports.

The study covered one third of the national courts of law. 92% of the people involved in trials said the court employees spoke with them politely. 86% of those questioned said they feel safe inside courts, while 71% said they are satisfied with the conditions in the courts.

The study reveals that more than half of the respondents do not know about the integrated management program. Oleg Efrim said he was also surprised by the fact that only 67% of those surveyed know that the trials are being recorded, as the equipment can be seen.

Among the recommendations made by the respondents are that the courts should provide free access to the Internet, tea or coffee machines and drinking water. In some of the courts, the toilets are closed and only the court employees have access to them.

This is the third study of the kind. It represents an instrument for measuring the results of the justice sector reform. The study was carried out by Magenta Consulting. It covered a sample of 604 persons.
