The General Police Inspectorate announced a series of penalties that will be imposed on police officers who commit violations in the process of communicating with the people, including non-reaction to the people’s calls, IPN reports.

In a press release, the General Police Inspectorate says that following internal inquiries, five policemen were relegated, four received a severe reprimand, one officer was reprimanded, while others were warned not to commit irregularities in their work in the future. The inquiries were started following unplanned inspections at local police inspectorates carried out on the initiative of the administration of the General Police Inspectorate. A number of violations were identified during these.

These and other examples were examined in a working meeting that involved the heads of all the local subdivisions of the Inspectorate. There, the General Police Inspectorate’s chief Alexandu Panzari set concrete tasks for remedying the situation as regards communication with the people and prompt reaction to all the calls, including recording all the complaints about the committed violations and carrying out activities to prevent and discover offences so as to ensure safety in the community.

The police’s priorities for the immediate future include the coming closer to the community by improving police services for dealing with the people’s problems. In this regard, the appropriate fulfillment by the police officers of their duties, in the interests of society, is of major importance.
