Officers of the National Anticorruption Center arrested two police officers on suspicion of passive corruption. A serious crimes investigation officer of the Botanica Police Inspectorate asked for €1,800 for helping the denouncer in a criminal case and for not starting another criminal case against him over swindle, IPN reports.
In a communiqué, the National Anticorruption Center says the transmitted sum of €1,300 was to be passed on to another investigation officer of the Cicada Police Inspectorate. During the arrest, the money was found in the car used by one of the policemen.
The police officers face five to ten years behind bars on passive corruption charges. They will be also fined 20,000 to 60,000 lei and banned from holding particular posts or performing particular activities for a period of two to five years.
