The employees of the Ministry of Home Affairs who were arrested on charges of smuggling of goods to the value of 1.5 million lei that were brought from “KM7” market of Odessa are also investigated for trafficking in drugs, IPN reports.
The Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases said the examinations showed that the solid substance found during searches is heroine. On the black market, that amount costs about 200,000 lei.
Following investigations carried out during nine months by the Customs Service and the Security and Intelligence Service, under the guidance of the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases, it was determined that the consumer goods were smuggled through the Transnistrian region and were stored in settlements of the Security Zone. From there, the goods were taken to the territory controlled by the constitutional authorities of Moldova by using fake license plates and by avoiding internal checkpoints, IPN reports.
Three persons, two of whom are police officers, were arrested in this case.
