Three police officers were arrested on suspicion of traffic of influence. These are suspected of asking for US$30,200 bribe from a man for dropping a criminal case started against him, IPN reports.
The policemen were arrested by officers of the Internal Protection and Anticorruption Division of the Ministry of the Interior. These include two police officers of the Dubasari Police Inspectorate and an investigation officer of the National Investigations Inspectorate.
The money was transmitted through the agency of a person in several installments, under the control of the Ministry’s officers. A local woman from Cocieri village of Dubasari district acted as an intermediary.
The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office opened a criminal investigation over traffic of influence. The police officers face a fine of up to 120,000 lei or three to seven years in jail.
