Policemen and servicemen will have higher salaries

The 2014 state budget was passed in the final reading by Parliament. In the last reading, it was increased by 84 million lei in order to raise the salaries of police officers and servicemen by 30%. Thus, the state budget provides for revenues of 25.814 billion lei and a total expenditure of 28.217 billion lei. The deficit is 2.403 billion lei, IPN reports.

The head of the Parliament’s commission on economy, budget and finance Veaceslav Ionita, who presented the state budget law, said that 14 of the 84 million lei will be allocated to the National Army, while the rest to the Ministry of the Interior.

The Communist Party expressed its indignation at the fact that Parliament adopts laws without the Government’s appraisal, but the head of the legal commission Ion Creanga said the executive will make a judgment after this decision of Parliament. Attending the December 23 sitting, Minister of Finance Anatol Arapu said the Government will endorse the bill.

The expenditure in 2014 will be by about 20% larger than in 2013. The tax revenue accounts for the largest part of the state budget incomes projected for 2014. They are followed by the non-tax revenues, own incomes of special funds and special resources.
