The police officer who fatally struck a pedestrian and hurt another pedestrian by car last week was arrested. This is the head of the North Section of the Balti Migration Office, who faces three to seven years behind bars. He may also be disqualified from driving for a period of four years, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The accident happened in Balti town. The pedestrians – a husband and wife from Falesti district – were crossing the street legally. As a result of the impact, the 36-year-old man died on the spot, while the woman was admitted to the hospital with multiple traumas and fractures.
The policeman was questioned by prosecutors and is investigated for violating the traffic rules. He was put under arrest for 72 hours, but the arrest warrant against him can be extended.
