A police officer is investigated for beating an 11-year-old boy studying in the sixth grade at a Chisinau lyceum, IPN has learned from the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The incident occurred in the hall of the school at the end of March. The policeman, who is the father of a classmate of the victim, ill-traded the boy. The sixth grader was afterward hospitalized.

The prosecutors classed the policeman’ acts as hooliganism, which is punished with a fine of 4,000 to 14,000 lei, 180 to 240 hours of community service or up to three years in jail.
