Policeman gets 2 years for torture
A police inspector from Rascani district was sentenced to 2 years in prison for applying torture, being deprived of the right to hold posts in the law enforcement bodies for a period of 2 years, Info-Prim Neo learned from the Prosecutor General's Office.
According to the prosecutors, on November 10, 2007, in the morning the police officer witnessed a fight between two women merchants at the central market in Rascani town and decided to step in. Deciding that the actions of one of the women had been illegal, he twisted her hand and punched her heavily in the chest, causing her serious bodily harm.
The sentence was pronounced by the Rascani District Court and may be appealed against in a higher court.
