Two police officers from Soroca were charged with acts of corruption. One of them was recently sentenced to two years in jail and banned from holding posts in the Ministry of the Interior for two years, IPN reports.
The North Service of the Anticorrosion Prosecutor’s Office established that this February, the two officers of the Soroca Police Inspectorate were investigating a case of hooliganism committed by two young men. Asserting that they have influence on the prosecutor that will examine the case, the policemen asked for 6,000 lei from the two for hushing the case up.
Several days later, one of the officers was caught in the act of taking the money. He admitted his guilt and was recently convicted. The other culprit didn’t accept his blame. The criminal case against him is examined separately.
