An investigating officer of the Chisinau Police Division was arrested by anticorruption officers on influence peddling charges. According to the National Anticorruption Center, the policeman asked and received €2,000 from a person who was under investigation, IPN reports.
The investigating officer said that he has influence over officials of the General Police Inspectorate and can persuade them not to impose a restrictive measure on the person at whose home searches were conducted.
As a result of the procedural actions taken on Wednesday, the policeman received the asked €2,000 under the control of anticorruption officers. He will be held for 72 hours and is to be remanded in custody.
