The General Police Inspectorate warns the population to be maximally prudent during the Easter holidays. The police formulated a set of recommendations concerning thefts from cars and apartments. The people are urged to make sure that the alarm system functions before leaving home, to close well the windows and doors and to ensure the stairs in the building or the courtyard are lit, IPN reports.
According to the police, during the Easter holidays, when a large part of the people are on vacation, while a large number of vehicles are being parked near cemeteries, the offenders profit from such conditions and steal things left unsupervised. To prevent thefts from cars, the police recommend checking the doors and trunks before leaving and not leaving tempting objects in sight.
The police also recommend avoiding the company of persons who are inebriated and places where dubious persons come together and where drugs are taken or alcohol is abused or games of chance are played.
On Low Sunday, most of the apartments in towns remain unsupervised and can become the target of robbers. The police thus recommend appropriately protecting the homes and annexes by installing metallic doors, closing and lighting systems. Those who live on the first floor must secure the windows with bars.
