Police to step up control over rules to prevent spread of COVID-19

The police, carabineers and rescuers will intensify the measures to examine the observance of the sanitary rules concerning the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 in public places, such as streets, parks, yards of apartment buildings, markets, recreation places and public transport stations, IPN reports.

The Ministry of the Interior said the police will also check how the citizens who returned from abroad obey the quarantine regime and will monitor the activity of business entities and passenger carriers, in concert with other authorities.

The Ministry’s subdivisions will monitor the obeying of the measures aimed at protecting the life and health of citizens. Those who will not comply and will endanger public health will be fined 22,500 lei.

According to the Ministry’s data, the police during March 17 and June 11 recorded almost 2,500 violations of decisions made by the authorities, imposing fines totaling 49 million lei.
