Police prohibit fireworks during winter holydays
Police say firecrackers and fireworks will not be allowed in marketplaces during the winter period, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Iuri Crijanovschi, the head of the Public Order Service of the General Police Office told Info-Prim Neo that raids are carried out in the marketplaces of Chisinau in order to find out the persons who sell firecrackers and to penalize them. The illegal goods had been confiscated from several merchandisers and they paid in total MDL 10 thousand since the beginning of this campaign.
Also, Iuri Crijanovschi says that the persons who want fireworks will have the possibility to buy them from the stores having authorizations in this respect. He says that the police urged repeatedly the state authorities to prohibit giving licenses for selling firecrackers and fireworks, for the sake of citizen’s security. “We hope that this way the law will be respected and the citizens will have quite winter holydays”, Crijanovschi stated. During the Christmas and New Year holydays many persons are hospitalized with severe injuries because of the accidents generated by the explosion of such “toys”. In many cases children are involved in these kinds of accidents, being mutilated for the rest of their lives, the source said.
According to Crijanovschi, the fines for the explosion of firecrackers in public places are high. Police will oblige the parents of the children committing such infringements to pay the fines.
