Police patrols on Chisinau streets will double in number during Easter holidays

The number of police officers patrolling the streets of the capital city will be doubled for the period of the Easter holidays. Security will be beefed up in a move to prevent offences and accidents, Info-Prim Neo reports. At a news conference on April 24, Mihai Cibotaru, the head of the Home Ministry’s General Police Division, said that 2,500 police officers will be on duty in Chisinau on the Resurrection night and day. Some 6,000 officers will work nationwide. According to the cited source, mobile teams will patrol the residential areas in order to prevent thefts from the apartments whose owners went on holiday. The police will also patrol the recreational areas, mainly on horses. Street trading will be banned. The wholesale depots and shops will be verified so as to make sure that the food is of the appropriate quality. Representatives of the Home Ministry in concert with other services in charge will take measures to combat poaching, especially of fish. The police call on the people to be cautious.
