Police officers to wear nametags
In less than a month nametags will be introduced for the police officers who are working directly with people, Interior Ministry's spokesperson Chiril Motpan has told a news conference today, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to Motpan, this practice borrowed from European countries aims to prevent abuses and corruption among the policemen. The tags will be worn on the right side of the chest and will contain the forename, the surname and the unit of the respective police officer.
Special teams will also be created to monitor the activity of traffic officers, including by discussing with the drivers after traffic stops, in a bid to counter extortion. In time, this practice will be extended to other cops as well, said Motpan.
