The police call on all those who intend to take part in the February 19 protest to exercise the right to freedom of expression in a peaceful way and to comply with the instructions of police officers, to obey the restrictions imposed by the authorities, not to disseminate messages that incite aggression, violence or another kind of actions that are dangerous for the safety of citizens. The police warn that no form of provocation or aggression, including against police officers, will be tolerated, IPN reports.
The General Police Inspectorate said that in connection with the protest that is to be mounted next to the Parliament Building this Sunday, the police will ensure public order and security, the safety of citizens, the vehicle traffic flow and the proper conduct of the event.
“The persons who will not obey the legislation on assembly, will incite or commit acts of violence, disorder or destabilization will bear responsbility in accordance with the law. We remind the organizers that they are responsible for the behavior of the participants and for the way in which the event takes place and are also obliged to inform the participants about the legal limitations and how they can take care of the own safety. We also ask not to allow minors, without accompanying persons, to take part in the protest,” the Inspectorate noted in a press release.
The police warn that the participants in protest rallies must obey the legislation, public order and the legitimate demands of the organizers and must refrain from actions that can hamper the holding of the rally and from inciting such actions. They are banned from holding firearms, explosive devices, forbidden substances or objects that can endanger the life or health of people.
“We warn the carriers that intend to take persons from different localities to the capital city to make sure that they have all the documents in order. The drivers must obey the road traffic regulations and must take care not to endanger the life of passengers or other traffic participants. We demand that immediately after the passengers get off, they should not disrupt traffic in Chisinau and should park the units of transport in specially set up places and should not block the access ways,” said the Inspectorate.
The protest announced for this Sunday is organized by the National Movement For People, which intends to demand that the government should pay the population’s bills for energy resources for the winter months.
