The office of a travel agency in Botanica sector, Chisinau, was searched by the police after several complaints from customers who contracted the agency's services for travels abroad, IPN learned from the Police Division.
The complainants say they paid 600 euros or more for holidays abroad. At the destination, they had to pay additional money because the accommodation and other services provided by the hotels exceeded the sums set by the travel agency's employees.
The investigation found that the travel agents worked illegally, without employment contracts and other necessary papers. The police also seized informal papers containing the customers' personal data, information supports, registers of the money swindled from victims, personal files as well as cash.
Investigators are gathering evidence for a prosecution on charges of swindling and tax evasion.
