The police discovered a field with at least 1,500 hemp plants near a wooded area in Stauceni commune of the municipality of Chisinau. The hemp was destroyed, the head of the General Police Commissariat’s press unit Adrian Jovmir has told Info-Prim Neo. According to Jovmir, the police were informed about the hemp field by residents of the commune. The hemp field was fenced. Hemp stems were taken for a laboratory analysis. If it is proved that the owner of the land grew the hemp, he will be punished in accordance with the law. As many as 1,601 drug-related offences have been reported this year.
