Police identify authors of thefts from café and villa
Property to the value of 165,000 lei has been stolen by a criminal group from a café located in Chisinau’s Botanica district. Adrian Jovmir, the head of the General Police Commissar’s press office, told Info-Prim Neo that the offenders broke in at night and stole two TV sets, three processors, a monitor, amplifiers and other things. The stolen things were found at the place of the persons suspected of committing the theft. They are liable to 7 to 12 years behind bars.
Elsewhere, a 19-year-old man from Tohatin village entered a villa in Truseni through the window and stole a plasma TV, a photo camera, a notebook, a stereo system and other possessions. He then called a taxi and took the foreign property home. The young man had earlier served two years in jail for theft. Now he faces a fine of 6,000 to 20,000 lei, up to four years’ imprisonment, or 180 to 240 hours of community service.
A number of 7,745 cases of theft have been reported in Moldova this year.
