The members of a criminal group trading in narcotic substances in Rascani district of Chisinau were arrested by the police with the help of officers under cover. The group’s head aged 42 was arrested when he was selling 10 grams of heroine. Another five members, aged between 30 and 35, all living in Chisinau, were also identified and were put under arrest for 30 days, IPN reports.
Vladimir Ciobanu, of the General Police Inspectorate, told a news conference that the group’s leader had 15 grams of heroine and 13,000 lei on him. Simultaneously, the police tracked down another group trafficking in drugs.
One of the members continued to manage the group from jail, after being sentenced for a similar offense. The police arrested six persons from Chisinau, Tiraspol and Rybnitsa. A Chisinau woman pensioner distributed the drugs.
All the drugs found by the police were smuggled into the country from abroad. A gram of heroine costs 1,000-1,500 lei. Those arrested face up to 15 years in jail for drug distribution.
