The Chisinau police have taken into custody a young man from Durlesti town, Chisinau municipality, suspected of stealing equipment from elevators, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Ministry of Domestic Affairs, the suspect, 21, intruded into the technical stories of living blocks from the capital, from where he slipped equipment containing colored metal, (copper). The man was arrested by the police from Rascani district as he was preparing a new smash. When interrogated he confessed to stealing the elevator parts and solling them to a collecting office in Chisinau against 40 lei/kg. If found guilty, he will face a fine from 6,000 to 40,000 lei, or up to 7 years in jail. During March 1 to May 1, the Chisinau police registered 38 thefts of equipment from elevators, prejudicing the municipal enterprise Lift Service of 45,000 lei.
