Police haven't heard witnesses of Pro TV cameraman claiming being aggressed by police

The police investigating the case of Pro TV cameraman Mihai Sambra have not yet heard his witnesses because the employee of the station “was nowhere to be found.” According to Chisinau police chief Iacob Gumenita the TV station would pursue to denigrate the municipal police, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a report on the case, demanded by general mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, Iacob Gumenita said Monday the Pro TV cameraman had been beaten by several students from a music college and not by policemen. This version was put up on October 10 by the press unit of the General Prosecutor's Office, too. Gumenita says a number of students have been quizzed ands they confirm they fought Mihai Sambra on October 8, as the cameraman was allegedly drunken, “what has been confirmed also by the Emergency Hospital doctor”. Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca told the City Hall's sitting the students heard by the police were told what to state. “One of them was being corrected by police, because he actually had not been on the spot.” The mayor has asked Gumenita why the students about whom the investigators say they would have fought with Sambra were visited and interrogated at their dormitory, while Mihai Sambra's witnesses have not been interrogated yet. Gumenita answered “the witnesses he wants us to interview were nowhere to be found, but they will be heard.” In his turn, Chirtoaca says “Sambra and his lawyer submit all the necessary requests for the police to intervene.” “You all do not intervene and do not even pay attention to them,” the mayor said. The Pro TV cameraman claims he was allegedly aggressed by policemen in the evening of October 8, and he suffers from brain concussion and has his nose broken. The police rejects the allegations. The Chisinau mayor stated on October 10 he was suspending the financing to the municipal police until he gets a detailed report on this case. The mayor shows confident the cameraman was aggressed by policemen because he shot scenes in which police had not allowed members of a political party to protest in front of Russia's embassy to Chisinau.
