Police discover three economic offenses
Officers of the special police brigade “Fulger” of the Ministry of the Interior have recently discovered three cases of transporting, selling and illegally keeping food products, alcoholic drinks and labels.
Ala Meleca, spokeswoman for the Ministry of the Interior, has told Info-Prim Neo that a Ford Tranzit minibus traveling on the Chisinau-Dubasari route was transporting about 1,500 kilograms of pork and beef worth approximately 120,000 lei. The driver aged 37 did not have documents of origin for the merchandise. The man is liable to a fine of up to 200,000 lei.
A Renault Clio transporting 220 bottles of counterfeit vodka to the value of about 3,000 lei was stopped by the police on the Ungheni-Falesti route. The driver could not show documents of origin for the vodka and might pay a considerable fine.
A 40-year-old woman was caught by the police in the act of trying to sell labels for cognac, champagne corks and other accessories for bottling alcoholic beverages as well as 35,500 forged excise stamps in the yard of her house in Centru district of Chisinau. The woman could make about 4,500 euros from the sale of the goods.
After searching the house of the woman, the police confiscated about 3,000 tickets for champagne and about 41,000 lids. The police are gathering evidence to initiate legal proceedings under article 185/2 of the Penal Code of Moldova “Violation of the Industrial Property Rights.”
As many as 183 smuggling cases have been reported in Moldova this year. 170 of them have been solved.
